With the help of Ken's sister Jan - their Mom was able to fly into Salt Lake before the big blizzard hit. Thanks to this adjustment and bringing her in on an early flight, we got ahead of the snow blizzard. Ken's Mom is safe-and-sound-and-warm with us before the snow began to fall.
Around 4pm, the snow began to fall and the roads became nasty. I took "old blue" out into the snow for the first time and went to pick up Ken at the hotel where the conference was held. All went fine and we made it home to "Big Red" with no significant trouble.
Hot tea, lots of conversation and laughter were enjoyed!

Salt Lake City, UT
Spent the last four days in Salt Lake City - we had a class on Monday and Tuesday with Mike and Joe from Optionetics. It was a fantastic class.... They really explained the fundamentals in detail, which is just what the doctor ordered.

Big Four Ice Caves
Ice Caves in Mt. Baker National Forest... we hiked up to check them out in the misty, drizzling, raining Washington weather.
Loved every minute of it!

Day 1
Ken headed out early on Sunday 10/17/10 for Sacramento - to have lunch with a friend, Jeff Launis, visiting from out of town (Kansas City). I finished up a few more things and met up with Ken just north of Sacramento.
We passed by BILL and KATHY'S diner on Route 5... which Ken remembers as a place that his Mom and Dad mentioned in the past.
That evening, we spent the night at a casino - in the parking lot with the truckers!
Next day, north on highway 5.
The beginning of something new...
Our journey "beyond printing" officially started on 10/17/10 when we left the San Francisco Bay Area to hit the open road in "Big RED" - the gorgeous "Rear-Engine-Diesel pusher" that protects us, gives us shelter and a place to call home. Behind "RED" is "old blue"... the Toyota Matrix that still has many miles in her future.
Both RED and blue, just like us, are up for adventure.
We are starting this journal a few weeks into our trip. Our plan is to journal and post images to "catch up" and then do our best to keep this blog current. It's a nice way to both chronicle our adventures for our memories, and to share with you what's happening in "our life.... beyond printing".
